CAl poly tesol
The TESOL program started at Cal Poly in 1991 originally under the name TESL. It is a 30 unit program that offers classes in linguistics, communications studies, and teaching pedagogy to give students a well-rounded education before entering the TESOL job field. The certificate follows the International TESOL requirements, and graduates can teach both in the United States and abroad. It is in line with CATESOL and other programs internationally with similar goals to CATESOL. Many employers prefer if applicants pursue coursework in classes rather than online. Cal Poly TESOL program requires that students complete over 20 hours of in person teaching and tutoring sessions to English Language Learners.
